What Is Pattern Design in Custom Sportswear?
Pattern design is the creation of the visual artwork — stripes, gradients, geometric shapes, textures, and graphics — that is printed across your jersey’s fabric before it is cut and sewn. In modern sublimation manufacturing, the pattern is not printed onto a finished shirt; it is engineered into a full-size digital template of every garment panel, so the design flows seamlessly across seams, sleeves, and collars.
This distinction matters for buyers: a factory that designs “on the shirt” gives you a logo on a blank. A factory that designs on the pattern gives you a garment where the artwork and the construction are one product. That is how we work.
Six Pattern Styles We Design and Produce Every Week
Every style below is produced through full-body dye sublimation, which means design complexity never changes your per-unit price.
Classic Stripes and Hoops
Retro Waves and Heritage Patterns
Gradient Color Flows
Geometric and Abstract Prints
Cultural and Story-Driven Motifs
All-Over Print (AOP)
The Technical Side: What "Production-Ready" Actually Means
Most design problems we rescue from other suppliers trace back to files that were never prepared for manufacturing. Every pattern we deliver meets these specifications:
Vector source files (AI, EPS, or print-ready PDF) for logos and line art — raster images pulled from websites cannot survive 300 DPI fabric printing
300 DPI resolution at full garment scale — not at screen size. A front panel for an adult XL jersey is roughly 50 × 70 cm; artwork must be sharp at that physical size
Pantone-anchored color standards — we match to Pantone references or physical swatches, never to screen colors, because a monitor’s navy and a fabric lot’s navy are two different colors
Seam-safe zone mapping — critical design elements (numbers, crests, sponsor logos) are placed away from cut lines and high-stretch zones so nothing distorts or disappears into a seam
Number-zone contrast control — patterns are kept low-contrast behind player numbers so they stay readable from the stands and on broadcast
Color fastness verified to ISO 105-C06 grade 4.0+ — your pattern survives a season of hot washing, not just the first photo shoot

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the pattern design service really free?
Yes. Design mockups and revisions are included free with any order inquiry. You pay nothing until you approve the design and confirm production.
What files do I need to provide?
Whatever you have is enough to start — even a phone photo or a rough sketch. For logos, vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) give the sharpest results, but our designers can redraw low-resolution logos into production-ready vector art as part of the free service.
Can you copy a jersey design I saw online?
We can create a design inspired by a style you like — same energy, original execution. We do not reproduce trademarked designs, league logos, or other brands’ proprietary artwork, which protects you from IP takedowns and customs seizures.
How many colors can a sublimation pattern use?
Unlimited. Sublimation pricing is based on fabric and labor, not color count. A two-color stripe and a full-color photographic gradient cost the same per unit.
Will the pattern look the same on fabric as on screen?
Yes, when colors are anchored correctly. We match to Pantone references or physical swatches and provide a printed strike-off (fabric sample) for approval before bulk production, so what you approve is what ships.
Does a complex pattern cost more or take longer?
No on cost — sublimation charges nothing for complexity. On time, design revision rounds add days, not weeks: most clients approve within two or three mockup iterations, and production timelines stay at two to four weeks regardless of pattern complexity.
Can you match our existing team jerseys?
Yes. Send us a photo or a physical jersey and we will match the pattern, colors, and placement — useful when adding new players to an existing kit or reordering a past design.
What is the minimum order for a custom pattern?
One piece. Custom patterns carry no setup fee and no minimum — order a single sample to verify quality, then scale to team or retail quantities when you are confident.
